Display your Art! Kim Curran San Diego Photographer

If you have made the investment to have your family portraits made, either with me or someone else, good for you. You got dressed up, dragged the family out. I made you carry the couch. Now that is all done. You view your proofs & you love them! Great...what now? You are confused by what prints to buy. Where do you put them? You are intimidated by large prints. How do you display them in your home??! It can be overwhelming. It does not have to be. Here are a few visuals to help you.

Now that didn't hurt, it was actually kind of fun, don't you think?

Before you go, here is an informative piece. It is not a super thrilling read but it covers some important basic information.

Let them eat Cake- Kim Curran san diego phototographer

Friends of Albert Einstein Academy  is a group that raises funds for my daughter's school. One of their annual events is a cake auction. To add value, I added a photo session to my cake. I was thrilled to be purchased by Stephanie Jennings, the President of FOAEA at the time. We finally got around to doing the shoot. I must say that this is one of the nicest families ever! So easy to work with. Her hubby is so pleasant & the daughter is a just a cutie-sweetheart.

As I look forward, I am sad. Cute daughter will be off to high school next year. I do not like the thought of not having Stephanie with her warm smile around doing all the good she does for all the students at AEA....makes me sad.

told you her smile was warm

Dog Days of Summer- Kim Curran san diego photographer

Jon & Kristi celebrated the arrival of their firstborn this summer. You might recall Baby Dylan on my blog. Yes Dylan is their firstborn but NOT their first baby. Meet Fletcher & Athena...these are big @$$ dogs! I had some concerns about this session. Two big dogs & a newborn???...plenty could go wrong! Turns out these dogs made wonderful models. They could not have been more behaved & a squeaky toy kept their attention in my direction.
Oh Dylan was great too, he got a little hungry is all. Overall a really fun session. Such a good looking family.

I love this one!

Where were you?

I had just found out I was pregnant 3 days prior so I was a ball of hormones & emotions already. Richard was out of town on business. I set the bedroom TV as my alarm for 6:00a.m. I typically did not wake up that early. I was working as an account executive for Trader Publications and had promised a big client bagels & coffee that morning. I woke to Katie Couric and witnessed the attack of the second tower live. That is something I will never forget.

WHERE WERE YOU??

Thanks to Kelly Newbury for lending me this image.

as an afterthought, I'd like to add this
"I'm Alive" by Kenny Chesney with Dave Matthews
interesting duo...it works

here is a tribute set to Adele's newest song

"PLAY BALL!" Jack's big moment at Petco- kim curran

take 2...I started writing this post yesterday about 3:30 when the power went out. That was fun, huh?

Tuesday evening Richard & I took the kids downtown to Petco Park to see a Padre game. We were uncharacteristically early. Jack had just finished  rolling down the hill at the park-in-the-park when we were approached by two members of the Pad-Squad. They asked Jack if he would like to be the "play ball" kid. He's an outgoing boy so I was not surprised he said sure. We chatted for a bit then they asked Jack how old he was.  The fear shone in their eyes when he said 4. Jack is a good size kid. They must have thought he was around six. Reluctantly, they decided to go with him. So Richard & Jack disappeared into the crowd with the Pad-squad. Isabelle & I got ice cream. About a half hour later, Jack reappeared on the big screen!! I was so excited. Take a look...he nailed it!
sorry about the lame music. You-tube has become quite strict regarding copy rite infringement. I thought this would be better than nothing, maybe I was wrong.

Hola Betty- Kim Curran san diego family photographer

Betty purchased one of my special promotions and thought it would be great to use it as an opportunity to capture the special relationship between her parents and her toddler son. She had been referred to me by a friend (thank you Nevada's mom) and felt my colorful style would be a nice fit with her family.
The morning of her shoot, about 15 prior actually, I had received some horrible  news regarding a family member. I almost postponed the session. There was nothing I could do at that moment to help the tragedy so I decided photographing a cute toddler would perhaps lift my spirits. I was so glad I proceeded with the session because this family was wonderful, such a delight to spend the morning with.
